Quantity Surveyor

ERG Group is a major international engineering and construction business, which has been in operation since 1969. The group develops and operates complex infrastructure assets in the power and transportation sectors.

The company is looking for a Quantity Surveyor (QS) to support its European subsidiaries. The role requires a well-rounded individual who has experience assisting design development, estimating costs, and delivering QS tasks in project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reporting to Project Director/Design Manager
  2. Work with engineering and procurement teams to quantify scopes of work and develop detailed Bill of Quantity schedules
  3. Work with project planner to identify resources required to deliver infrastructure construction projects
  4. Analyse and update budgets, bills of quantities and other related calculations to support bidding documents and contracts
  5. Continually update Bill of Quantities for changes to design and construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly
  6. Work with Procurement Manager to define relevant specification to source sub-contractors and goods and services
  7. Interact with engineers and procurement managers to understand requirements and appropriate volumes required for the construction and O&M
  8. Measure and value the work done on site, reconcile and log variations to the design and work with Procurement Manager to resolve optimise the design
  9. Produce regular reports on project budget and completion progress
  10. Liaise with accounts department to monitor actual work in progress against reported work in progress
  11. Liaise with client technical site managers and commercial officers and advisers

Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Degree in quantity surveying, ideally chartered with RICS/ICES or working towards chartership.
  • 8+ years of practical experience, comprising a mix of office based project design and development work as well as detailed design/on site construction experience
  • Ability to summarise construction and maintenance valuation assessments in concise and accurate reports
  • Adequate numerical and data analysis Excel skills
  • Good awareness of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, commercial and construction legal matters.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills
  • Proactive self-starter
  • Foreign languages are a plus
